Sample collection is extremely important for a correct diagnostic analysis. During collection, it is important to focus on the place of the pathology. When looking to enteric infections we should focus our sampling on fresh rectal swabs or gut content. Up to 5 samples can be pooled in one PathoSense analysis. Watch the instructions below:
Never collect feces from the pen floor! These samples are contaminated by the environment (e.g. environment infection pressure, sow feces etc...) and do not represent the replication of pathogens inside the animal!
Mostly one sample is collected from individual samples. Process the sample as instructed in the movie above.
You may find it practical to collect feces using a rectal glove and to use the swab subsequent for collection of the fecal material. Purify further as instructed in the movie above.
