The technology: how it works

Good diagnostics start with pure samples. You will collect samples with our new, patent-pending swab. At the same time, this novel swab will be used to immediately purify the pathogens (viruses & bacteria) in your samples. Standardisation of the sample collection will ensure high quality material is available for the PathoSense analysis.

Sample administration with our mobile app is easy and fast because we care about your precious time. We kept the requested information to a minimum and the sample can be registered using a scanning function of your mobile camera.

In the lab we use third-generation sequencing (Oxford Nanopore Technologies) to analyse the DNA/RNA code of intact pathogens in the sample. In this way, you don't have to make a prior selection anymore of which pathogens you want to test for. A full overview of all pathogens in the sample will be given. If strain information is readily available from the data, it will be given.

A semi-quantitative overview of the pathogens inside the sample is given. This allows you to have a good visualisation of the pathogens present in the sample. The relevance of the findings will be discussed in brief note and is provided by veterinary experts.
